Insider | A tech sales exec was helped so much by executive coaching, she quit her job to found a startup with her coach. Here’s how they raised over $45 million.
When Christine Tao landed a job as the senior vice president of global development at mobile-ad startup TapJoy, she was excited but apprehensive about the responsibility.
She had worked in tech sales and marketing for Google and YouTube, and at TapJoy she’d been promoted three times within two years. However, it was her first time taking on an executive leadership role, and she wasn’t sure how to proceed.
TapJoy assigned Tao an executive coach to help her transition into managing over 70 percent of the company’s revenue. Her coach, Lori Mazan, she told Insider, changed her professional life.
Mazan helped Tao realize how her communication style differed from her CEO’s, and gave her pointers on how to navigate these differences.
